Pre-Order 1973-1974 Boxed Set

Just in case anyone here isn't on The Dead's mailing list, pre-order has just begun for a boxed set of the band's six shows in the Pacific Northwest in 1973 and 1974, including my beloved 5/19/74.

• 6/22/73 P.N.E. Coliseum, Vancouver, B.C.

• 6/24/73 Portland Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR

• 6/26/73 Seattle Center Arena, Seattle, WA

• 5/17/74 P.N.E. Coliseum, Vancouver, B.C.

• 5/19/74 Portland Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR

• 5/21/74 Hec Edmundson Pavilion, University of Washington, Seattle, WA

Wow - that's exciting news! - P.S. if you felt like considering a request, a show from the same era, with some real highlights imho, and that would benefit from a shortlist at 320kbps (ie, I don't have it in any decent format) would be: Iowa, 1973, May 13 :)
Tony, I will check out that show. Most of my personal archive is lower than 320, but I can try to scare up a better one somewhere. Thanks for the tip! I can use them, for sure. Do you have a list of the tracks you think are particularly great?
Well it's The Other One that I often turn to in particular - it maintains a flowing and melodic quality over large stretches, which I really like. Once recommended it might not sound exceptional initially, but for me overall it has the "it" factor. I'll listen again to the rest of the show and let you know what I think - but I prefer to let you tell me what to think ha ha !
Hmm - I've changed my mind. I was confusing different shows. The final medley from He's Gone through TOO is great and in good sound quality, but the rest of the (albeit excellent show) is not in similar quality. The Playin', incidentally, can be found (in good quality) on 30 Days 2010, but it doesn't do much for me at all. But what would be really cool would be matrix versions of the Pacific Northwest shows in advance of the box set ha ha :) For instance, the Hunter Seamons matrix of Seattle 73 sounds superb and I'd love to grab that in Flac/320kbps.
P.S. - I meant PNE Coliseum show not Seattle.....
And P.P.S. - interesting that HS has done a matrix for 2 out of the three 1973 shows. Generally, if he does a matrix then it indicates a worthwhile show - eg, 23 April 77 !!!
It would be great if someone was compiling all the judgements of thoughtful Dead commentators - the officially-released shows, the palimpsest of official Dead Archivists' notes, David Gans, Jarnow, etc., etc. Fan-sourcing is hopeless; people are ecstatic about shows and songs for all sorts of different reasons. But if you could matrix the annotations of the right 10-20 people, I think you'd probably have a working model of the guide to live Dead that we all really need.
